California Wine Club Aged Cabernet Series Review
Over the years I’ve heard great things about the California Wine Club Aged Cabernet Series and finally decided to become a member to see if it’s truly as good as I’ve heard that it is. My first shipment arrived via FedEx in the usual brown box that is used by the California Wine Club for all their wine clubs.

One major difference with the California Wine Club’s Aged Cabernet Series is that all shipments are made via expedited 3 Day Air to ensure your wine never spends too much time in transit.

Unlike their other wine clubs though, when I opened my first shipment up I discovered that the bottles had been custom wrapped in high quality, branded tissue paper. For just under $100 a bottle, this is exactly the type of high-quality presentation I was hoping for.

As you can read in our California Wine Club Review, the California Wine Club never fails to impress. And that is definitely the case with their Aged Cabernet Series.
Not only do we HIGHLY recommend this wine club, but so does the Robb Report as it features prestigious Napa Valley Cabernets aged 8 to 12 years each. Every bottle of wine is 100% guaranteed and absolutely AMAZING!
In fact, we’ve yet to find a wine club of similar quality when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon.
Young Cabernet Sauvignon has its charm, with is mighty tannins and big, bold fruit flavors, but its truly TIME that makes a Cabernet so wonderful.

8 to 12 years in the wine cellar transforms a finely made young Cabernet Sauvignon into a magical mix of rich texture, multi-layered flavor and complex nuances of tannin and oak.
With aged Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit-foward aromas soften and a more complex nose develops as stringent tannins are tamed and replaced by a much more rounder mouthfeel.
In this month’s shipment (June 2019), I received a bottle of 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon from Delectus Winery based in Oakville Napa Valley and a 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Chappellet Vineyard also based in Napa Valley.

In the California Wine Club Aged Cabernet Series brochure this month I discovered that Delectus Winery Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested in 2002, bottled in 2004 and originally released in 2019. Only 725 cases were produced, so I’m really looking forward to the aromas of cherry liquor, creme-de-cassis, well-integrated oak, vanilla bean and cocoa that I’ve read I’ll experience.

As you can see below, I also learned that the Chappellet Vineyard 2005 Napa Valley “Signature” Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested in 2005, bottled in 2019 and originally released in 2019. There were 6,500 cases produced, but only 24 now remain so I feel privileged to get my hands on a wine that is in such short supply and in such high demand!
Here’s what the California Wine Club had to say about this amazing wine: “This wine is our benchmark for the long-lived hillside wines of the Napa Valley; full of structure and aging potential, yet seductively forward in its concentrated varietal character. An attractive array of blackberry, smoke, dark chocolate and bay leaf aromas lead to a lustrous, layered wine.”
So, if you’ve considered the California Wine Club Aged Cabernet Series, now is the time to sign up! In fact, it makes a fantastic father’s day present too 😉
